Practising the previous year’s paper for any exam helps in various ways:
- In understanding the pattern and type of questions asked in the exam.
- In figuring out Important topics of the exam.
- For time management during the real exam for various sub-sections of the exam.
GATE Exam asks the following types of questions:
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
- MCQs have four choices out of which ONLY ONE is the correct answer.
- For MCQ, a wrong answer will result in a deduction of ⅓ marks for a 1-mark question and ⅔ marks for a 2-mark question.
- Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)
- MSQs have four choices out of which ONE or MORE than ONE choice(s) is/are correct.
- Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions
- A numerical answer should be entered
NOTE:
- All questions that are not attempted will result in ZERO marks.
- There is NO negative marking for multiple select questions (MSQ) and numerical answer type (NAT) questions.
- For MSQ, to get full credit, the candidate needs to select ALL the correct choice(s) ONLY and NO wrong choice(s).
- There is NO partial marking for MSQ and NAT.
OUR QUIZ RULE:
- The question carries the same point as in GATE Exam.
- Negative marking: For each question which students answer wrongly, the total point is deducted exactly the question’s point.
- Pass Criteria: 40% is the passing percentage which is higher than required for GATE exam (because we deduct 100% on negative marking as compared to 1/3 or 2/3 used in the GATE exam and that too for MCQ only).
